For Non-Residents
As a general rule, only residents can use ABCI.
Who is a Non-Resident?
If you meet one or more of the criteria listed below, you will be treated as a “non-resident.”
- Japanese who lives overseas and work in an overseas office (e.g. overseas branch or local subsidiary of a Japanese entity, or an international institute.)
- Japanese who plans to reside in a foreign country for two years or more
- Japanese who has resided in a foreign country for the previous two years or more
- Japanese who temporarily returns to Japan with a length of stay of six months or less among those described above 1 to 3.
- Foreigner who resides in other countries
- Foreigner who has spent less than six months in Japan after arrival (excluding those who work at an office in Japan)
In addition, if you fall under any of the following categories, please complete the “Non-Resident Checklist.”
- There is any organization (including Universities) located in other countries (including those who are students)
- Foreigner who plans to return home country during ABCI use
Non-Residents who wish to use ABCI
If the criteria above are currently met or are expected to be met during the current fiscal year, a declaration must be submitted with the application, and the “Non-Resident and ABCI Checklist” must be completed for review.
