How to Use ABCI

For Non-Residents

As a general rule, only residents can use ABCI.

Who is a Non-Resident?

If one or more of the following items apply to you, you are considered a Non-Resident.

  1. Those whose affiliation includes a foreign organization (including a university).
  2. Japanese who lives overseas and work in an overseas office (e.g. overseas branch or local subsidiary of a Japanese entity, or an international institute, including faculty members and students at a foreign university)
  3. Japanese who plans to reside in a foreign country for two years or more
  4. Japanese who has resided in a foreign country for the previous two years or more
  5. Japanese who temporarily returns to Japan with a length of stay of six months or less among those described above 2. through 4.
  6. Foreigner who resides in other countries
  7. Foreigner who has spent less than six months in Japan after arrival (excluding those who work at an office in Japan)
  8. Foreigner who plans to return home country during ABCI use

Non-Residents who wish to use ABCI

Those who “Currently fall under the above” or “Plan to fall under the above during the current fiscal year” are required to submit the “Confirmation of Non-resident and ABCI Checklist” for screening after making a declaration at the time of application for use.
